DCSHA is seeking volunteers for various committees!
If you are interested in serving our organization, consider getting involved in the any of the following committees:
CONFERENCE & PROGRAMS
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Selecting the conference date and securing the conference location upon approval by the Executive Council.
- Developing and overseeing the Call for Papers process.
- Corresponding with all authors for papers submissions.
- Promoting the conference.
- Appointing chairs of the other committees, who make up the conference committee (e.g., audiology, speech language pathology, registration, exhibitors, silent auction committees, and so forth).
MEMBERSHIP
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Recruiting and maintaining members.
- Developing benefits for members.
- Maintaining membership records for the Association.
- Recommending to Executive Council strategies to increase and promote membership.
HONORS AND AWARDS
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Reviewing awards categories and disseminating awards criteria to membership.
- Reviewing and recommending individuals who are nominated to receive awards.
- Reviewing and recommending nominees for awards external to the Association.
NOMINATING
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Developing a slate for each office.
- Recruiting members for offices.
- Overseeing the elections process.
PROFESSIONAL AFFAIRS IN AUDIOLOGY
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Recommending to the Executive Council policies with respect to legislative and regulatory initiatives, matters of import and provide advice and strategy to the Government Affairs Consultant.
- Informing the Association of emerging professional issues relative to audiology.
- Preparing communication to be disseminated to the membership concerning the legislative, regulatory, and other public policy activities and initiatives.
- Developing discussion groups and/or short courses on audiology issues for the Association.
PROFESSIONAL AFFAIRS IN SPEECH-LANGUAGE PATHOLOGY
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Recommending to the Executive Council policies with respect to legislative and regulatory initiatives, matters of import and provide advice and strategy to the Government Affairs Consultant.
- Informing the Association of emerging professional issues relative to audiology
- Preparing communication to be disseminated to the membership concerning the legislative, regulatory, and other public policy activities and initiatives.
- Developing discussion groups and/or short courses on audiology issues for the Association.
CONTINUING EDUCATION
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Overseeing, reviewing, and approving continuing education units (CEUs) of conferences and other workshops offered by the Association.
- Preparing and submitting all CEU forms to ASHA.
- Formulating policies and procedures for the Association to serve as a CEU provider for the Associations’ continuing education process.
WEBSITE
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Reviewing and monitoring content on the DCSHA website.
- Developing website content as needed including helpful links, clinical information or important other important documents that will add to the effective online organization of DCSHA as an Association.
COMMUNICATIONS & SOCIAL MEDIA
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Developing and maintaining a quarterly newsletter.
- Gathering and organizing articles for the newsletter.
- Promoting the Association through social media and other forms of communication.
- Maintaining social-media applications.
